Maverick
Director Richard Donner pumps new life into this big-screen remake of the classic Western television series, with Mel Gibson assuming the role of poker-playing grifter Bret Maverick. Maverick needs a wad of cash to enter a big tournament. So he targets a couple of small-timers, like the lovely Annabelle (Jodie Foster), but ends up getting caught in a variety of comedic conundrums as he's being pursued by a marshal (original Maverick James Garner).
