Naked Africa
Conceived as a documentary about Africa's Xhosa tribe, this film found an audience as part of the 1960s mondo film craze thanks to its focus on the exotic, including scenes of male initiation rituals and shocking (to Westerners) religious rites. The filmmakers also follow tribesmen on hunting expeditions and document the Xhosa custom of walking on hot coals, along with their traditional facial piercings.
