Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why are you doing this?
I wanted an easier way to browse through the Netflix Instant Watch catalog, so I decided to start this project. I originally built Instant Watch Database for personal use, but I figured other people might get some good use out of it, so I decided to release it into the wild.
  • Are you affiliated with Netflix.com?
Netflix does not directly support or endorse this site, but they do provide a fantastic API that developers are free to use. All of the movie data on this site is provided by Netflix through that API.
  • When is Netflix releasing an app for my device or operating system?
I am not directly affiliated with Netflix, so I have no idea. When Netflix decides to announce releases, they usually do so on their blog.
  • Do you want suggestions?
Absolutely! The best ideas come from those who actually use the site, so I am completely open to new ideas. Feel free to submit any suggestions you may have.
  • What tools did you use to build this site?
This site was built using Eclipse, vi, a 13" Macbook Pro, lots of caffeine. :) It runs on a custom PHP framework that I wrote in my spare time.
  • What hosting service do you use?
I use Media Temple to host the site, and GitHub for source control.
